The museum’s collections deal with Romanian Jewry and its past and are directed at the present and the future. Within the framework of the virtual museum, we have collected materials, documented them and made them available to the general public.

Contrary to popular belief, a museum collection is not a static or isolated receptacle, to which only experts have access, but can become a creative tool used to prepare programs in the fields of history, culture and art; enrich, challenge and shape visitor perception and influence the present and future. The items displayed in the permanent exhibition and in the changing exhibits are accessible to all to be examined within the collections.

These collections include diverse databases including photographs, historical and personal documents, manuscripts, printed materials, Jewish artifacts, personal effects, artwork, films, interviews, and music.

Our goal is to collaborate with the world’s most important research institutions in order to provide the audience at large with the most accurate and up-to-date information on the materials presented.

Virtual Communities (searches by city or family name): This database compiles and provides information on Jewish communities in Romania, Israel, and around the world; including archival and contemporary materials such as documents, maps, objects, photographs, films and interviews.

Thanks to this information, people from all around the world, academicians, university students and school-aged pupils, can discover and research a variety of topics related to the Romanian Jewish community.
